This procedure is commonly performed in patients with conditions like pneumothorax (air in the pleural space), pleural effusion (fluid accumulation), hemothorax (blood in the pleural space), or empyema (infection or pus in the pleura).  Indications for Thoracic Drainage Catheter Thoracic drainage catheters are typically used in the following scenarios.
